The Warming House
Believed to be the oldest student-run soup kitchen in the country, the Warming House serves a hot meal six days a week throughout the year. In 2025, the Warming House anticipates serving between 9,500 and 10,000 meals.

Bona Buddies
Bona Buddies is the largest youth mentoring program in Cattaraugus County. Welcoming 80 youth between the ages of 5-15 each week to the St. Bonaventure University campus, mentors and buddies spend time reading, playing, lessons and activities from SBU Clubs and Athletic teams. Youth mentoring programs instill confidence, self-worth and often result in higher academic success in the children that participate.

SBU@SPCA
Each weekend St. Bonaventure University students visit the SPCA to pet cats and walk dogs. Helping the shelter animals become socialized is one step in the process of the animals finding their forever homes. Bona students always come back to campus with smiles on their faces after being at the SPCA!

SBU Food Pantry
The SBU Food Pantry is an on-campus resource to combat food insecurity within the campus community. Located in the McGinley-Carney Center for Franciscan Ministry, students, faculty and staff can visit the food pantry to supplement their grocery needs.

Break the Bubble
Throughout the academic year, Bona students can participate in service trips and conferences around the country. These opportunities are often free of charge to SBU students so that all can participate. Getting away from campus offers a new perspective and the chance to deepen Franciscan values in everyday experiences.

Silver Wolves and Friends with Sisters
SBU students have the chance to “peek into the life of an older adult” and the senior citizens have the opportunity to “peek into the life of a young adult” in this pairing program between college students and senior citizens as they visit, play games together and tell the stories of their lives. Friends with Sisters also pairs SBU students with Franciscan Allegany Sisters and Franciscan Friars. In addition, SBU students assist the sisters and friars with using their cell phones and devices in monthly gatherings.
